The Deh Gah Gotie First Nation has successfully completed a workplace health and safety program for it’s staff.
Band Manager Barret Lenoir says it’s good to meet the standards under the NWT Workers Safety and Compensation Commission Board.
“The Supervisory Training Program was a two day course. We had all of our 15 member staff on board to take the course. I want to congratulate the staff who all passed with high marks, it’s great news for the organization andt he community itself,” Lenoir told CKLB.
Chief and Council made it a priority to ensure employees of the First Nation were protected under the new guidelines.
Lenoir says they will be working on their Certificate of Recognition safety training next, with the Safety Auditor from the Northern Safety Association visiting Fort Providence this Spring.
