It is good that gondola supplier Sante Access System (Users trained to safely operate gondolas in emergencies; May 31) works closely with clients to ensure that all those who operate the equipment are competent in using it.
However, there is still room for improvement.
I believe that whatever training records or manuals given to clients are all kept in an office cupboard, and are often not made available at the worksite.
I also believe that not many workers can remember everything they were taught, unless it is put into practice frequently.

In times of emergency, workers panic, and may forget or be unsure of what they are supposed to do.
My suggestion to gondola suppliers is to fix an instructional plate on the gondola with information on how to activate the primary brake during an emergency. The text used should be readable and be in several languages.
