I read a few of the MSDHS safety commission report. It covered the obvious points. Sadly, I do not see much great coming out of it. This was more than a school failure; it was a political failure. More of our children will be at threat and some will die because of issues in the Florida legislature. Sure, implement the recommendations in the report, but please do not stop there. The report told us to do the obvious. A school might have received nearly the exact same suggestions from nearly any guns instructor or security expert.
Do those suggestions surprise anyone? That list sounds simplified which is a fair criticism. School and cops officials stopped working to do even those simple things. This is what the report must have said.
-Lots of authorities and school staff failed in their assigned jobs. Extensive failure signifies poor leadership. These staff were kept in their positions for political factors instead of being dismissed. That suggests corrupt management.
-Instead of looking for to right away improve school safety after the attack, the authorities and school organizations acted to cover their failings. Provide alternative instructional opportunities so moms and dads can escape these failed organizations.
-If possible, have state executives remove these stopped working officials from office. Prosecute them to the maximum extent of the law.
-To avoid comparable failures in the future, modify state minimal resistance statutes so people working in state and city government might be held criminally and civilly responsible for their actions.
-Existing security programs like the Florida school guardian program were crafted to supply political cover instead of to secure students. The existing guardian program deliberately excludes class instructors from being very first responders because of union opposition. The school guardian program un-necessarily concerns schools and school boards as they work to enhance school safety. Change legislation so school boards might establish their own security programs separate from the guardian program. Allow Florida schools to embrace security programs imitated the successful programs utilized in other states.
A minimum of the report said qualified volunteer teachers need to be equipped.
